Activity and learning
When you get home from work, take just half an hour to read a short
story to your child. Then act out the story together. Talk about the
plot and the characters.
Recent brain research is confirming what many educators have believed
all along that the mind and body are not separate entities. Movement
activates the brain much more than doing seatwork.
Sitting increases fatigue and reduces concentration, movement feeds
oxygen, water, and glucose to the brain, optimizing its performance.
Learning by doing creates more neural networks in the brain and
throughout the body, making the entire body a tool for learning.
Children learn best by doing.
