Play is a developmental tool
Take some playtime with your child and travel the world - without
leaving home. All you need is a large box or container. This box becomes
your boat, train, aeroplane, or spaceship. Have him make up a story
about where you are traveling. He can make the noises and act as
animals, people or even aliens he sees.
“Play is the natural way for children to explore, learn, and build
skills,” says Dr. Dorothy Singer of Yale University.
The evidence is powerful. Years of research have made a clear
connection between healthy early childhood play experiences and outcomes
most of us would want for children like: verbal and mathematical
literacy, organizational skills, excitement about learning, and
creativity.
Play is a developmental tool for all children.
