Playing Restaurant
This evening, turn your dining area into a restaurant. Get your
children to make the tablemats by colouring and decorating ordinary
sheets of paper. Have them set the table and make a decorative
centerpiece. They can make menus and pretend to be waiters and
waitresses as they lead customers to their seats, write down orders and
serve the meals. When the meal is finished they can prepare the bills
and clear the table too.
Experiential learning is children learning by experiencing. It tends
to be a natural process with minimal guidance from adults. It involves
children exploring, creating, discovering, relating and interacting with
the world around them through all their senses.
Your restaurant will be experiencing, cooperation, creativity,
demonstrating good manners, writing and reading, coordination, balancing
and a whole lot more.
