Safety
Getting hurt and learning how to handle it is an important part of a
child’s life.
Play is a precious part of childhood. It is one way our children
learn to manage their emotions and to socialize. But, mothers face an
internal struggle. You value the benefits of experiential learning and
unstructured activities, but you also face very real concerns about
safety that prevent your child from participating in play.
Safe play is possible. Have at least three safe places for your child
to play. One indoor, one out-door at home, and another bigger space away
from home. Be smart and take sensible precautions. Accept that children
will get hurt, but don’t let your worries prevent your children from
opportunities to learn and develop their talents.
